This last week

My aunt and uncle are here this week visiting my folks and us. We're having a great time with lots of delicious meals. Tonight for John's bday we had a curry and then went to a French restaurant for desserts, but we've also been having great appetizers almost every day like French cheeses, carmelized onion chutney on cream cheese, and cherries and apricots.
Here are some pics from the week:

We went walking at the beach...

We love walking in the euculyptus forest too (hereafter referred to as the foret)Sam continues to be fun and cute

But he also had a hard week with lots of crying. It was especially hard during class time because he was not content to sit still or be held. So I took him on walks for 10-15 minutes until he fell asleep and then I came back to class. John and I are pretty aware that we'll need a babysitter for class time when we get back from France. Oh and I started with a new tutor this week. Her name is Thesia (tay-see-a) and she's from Congo Brazzaville- which is where we'll be moving next year. I'm really excited to get the intensive conversation practice as well as to get used to her accent. Plus it will be cool to ask her questions about Congo too. She's here studying business administration.
Friday was the last day for our teacher Sakina (center). We will miss her because she is an awesome teacher- clear, encouraging, and experienced. John and I have a special inside knowledge of what it takes because we taught English in Japan- she's far better than we were. Anyway- she'll be a music professor soon, so we'll have a new teacher. On the left is our other teacher Amal who is also an excellent teacher and we're happy she's staying. On the right is Rhoena- the school administrator- she's Filopina but has lived here for 5 years so she speaks Arabic and French + English- I'm always amazed by these multi-lingual people.
