1st hair cut and an awesome playground

Sam got his first haircut from his grandma this week. Here's two before pics and an after- she just got off the mullet and around his ears...

We went on a family trip to the mainland and stayed at a great place. Each morning we had breakfast out on the patio and the kids played with the rocks. Somehow that amused all of them for three mornings in a row. Then we hung out by the pool and did some shopping.

Here's our breakfast table with James and Lyddie

And here are the rocks- if Sam were to tell you about his trip to the hotel he'd talk all about the rocks. There were white rocks that he tried to throw in the fish pond, and some smooth rocks that he carried around with him wherever we went.Sam with all 3 of his Allen cousins- later this week they got a formal portrait taken together- I'll post that when we're back in Morocco.

The Allens treated us to a dinner at Chili's and all 10 of us squished into one booth :-) Most amazing of all is that Sam stayed in his high chair for the entire meal!!

After Chili's we all went to this indoor playground. It's an awesome and interesting place-kids are five times more expensive than adults but adults can do everything- slides, balls, etc. I think I had the most fun of anyone...

Except for Sam when it came to the blocks- I had to teach him how to knock them over, but after I showed him, it was all we could do to get them stacked before he could get to them. Here's a pic...
and a video...

Today John and Jeff got dressed in their work clothes to install wiring in the balcony of the empty apartment above to keep out birds (did I mention that Sam ate bird poo last week?) Hopefully, this will alleviate that problem. Anyway, John is wearing the shirt that Jeff wore to coach him in peewee soccer.

love all the pictures and the video was priceless. It's so fun to see the cousins playing together and John does such a great job orchestrating it all. I can't wait to see Sam and you guys in just a few days!!!

My favorite part was when Daddy John rocked Sam in the head with a block, and didn't even look back...fantastic. If we are smacking babies in the head with blocks, the GF needs to be involved!!!

Looks like you all are living it up with all your family/Steiner time! Leni loves looking at all the pictures of Sam, and runs over to watch videos of him and wave. The hair thing is such a different mentality-with boys you wait until they aren't babies to cut their long hair, and with girls, you hope it gets longer so you can keep it out their face! Good to still be able to keep up with you all-looking forward to seeing your adventures unfold in Congo!
