Thanksgiving at the beach

We had a wonderful week in Pointe Noire with the IM team. Our thanksgiving celebration had all the trimmings thanks to everyone's forward planning (since many ingredients aren't found here). Sam and John and I went to the beach every day. Sam had loads of fun and John and I had lots of time for big discussions.

Here are some recent pics:

Okay this first one isn't quite the beach, but Sam loves tub time just about as much. He loves playing in water in general. In Pointe Noire, Sam and Hannah played in the hose and sprinkler every day.
At the beach, Sam played a bunch of different games with us every day- we have some cute videos of some of them, but unfortunately our normal laptop has broken (some hardware thing). Ugh! So we are hoping to get it fixed in Morocco. Anyway, we made sandcastles, ran in and out of the waves, ran as fast as we could, Sam chased me around with sand in his hands, it was all great fun.

Walking to the beach we found a gorgeous plumeria tree that had just been chopped down :-( so we took some flowers.
playing cards with our friends after the big meal
Sam LOVES pumpkin pie!
John and Sam played a game and jumped over the waves together
Then ran back away from them to meSam got braver as the week went on and stopped panicking when waves caught his feet (or in this case shorts)

He has developed an aversion to dirty hands and requires that they be washed off

gleefully throwing sand on John
not sleeping...just enjoying a lie-down on the sand
We went to a playground with Hannah
Right on the beach so we went there afterwards
Thanksgiving leftover meal (always as good as the first)
Last day in the sand
