Inauguration Brazza style

But first...

When Sam and I were sick the first week back he lay like this without moving almost all day two days in a row- he's never that still.
So I'm sure you've heard on the news but Obama-fever is big here in Africa- it's not just Kenya, but I saw it in Tanzania and Ethiopia and here for sure and people from many countries have the same reaction- they are thrilled that the US has the son of an African for president. Here in Brazza we had a double party- the opening of the new US embassy and the inauguration viewing party with all the Americans in town. It was a lot of fun and the building is creepily American. They have those doors with the bar on one side that you push to open them and they have little plastic guard things on the corners of the walls. I would have taken pictures inside if I could have just to show you what little things are so American to me.

But here are two pics from the outsideand cutting the ribbon ;-)

We're having water problems- our resevoir has some sort of big leak and our landlord seems reticent to fix it. So we have water two days a week right now when we fill up the resevoir from our neighbors well and try to get as much laundry and bathing in as possible before it drains out. Sam is happy enough even though it means less splashing around in the tub.
