Today is a moving day here at the office- I woke up this morning and came into work at 9 to find most of the office already in boxes and packed in the moving truck. We're moving our country office from Banda Aceh to Medan (the 4th largest city in Indo and the nearest to Aceh). The move will help our management to better oversee all the projects in their various locations in Aceh and Nias and will also give us the benefit of having a bit of separation from the project activities themselves.
John has set-up and dismantled a ton of offices this year. When we got here last September, he fixed up the office we were in but had to move out of it entirely in November. Then in January, we opened a new office which he set up beautifully and which we are now dismantling. Plus he's setting up our new country office in Medan, and our project offices in Sigli (Aceh), Banda Aceh, and Nias. So he's gotten really familiar with negotiating with contractors and moving companies :-)
This move seems to be the best one yet- I guess it's probably because last time, it was really just John and I and one other guy plus a handful of movers and this time we have all our guards and drivers plus the movers and our other staff. It's especially amazing since all these guys are still fasting for Ramadan. Kudos to John once again.
Speaking of Ramadan- it's almost over and we'll be having a mini break in Penang with John's sister and her family (Susan, James, Ruthie and Lyddie). We're really looking forward to this break in the middle of a very busy couple of months and especially to being with family. I'm sure pictures will make it on here shortly after we get back.
