Jason and Elissa :-)

After our anniversary celebrating trip, we visited our friends Jason and Elissa who are studying Indonesian in Bandung before moving to Aceh next Summer/Fall. It is always fun to see them- partly because they are just great people and partly because John and Jason have so much history together- jr. high, high school, college (including semesters in Israel and East Africa), and now we will be working with the same organization (CAMA Services). They also know a lot of our Philadelphia friends from having moved there after we left, gone to VCC, and studied in the same MBA program.

Here are a few pics...

Jason and Elissa are moving into an urban village next week- this is the view from their porch- (they're on the second floor).

We went hiking around a volcano near Bandung with a sulfur geyser parts of which were more strenuous then expected (at least for me with my big belly). We had fun throwing rocks down the crater too and smashing pumus stones into bits against other rocks (though in this second picture it kind of looks like Jason is planning on breaking it on Elissa, huh?)

Oh and this picture needs no explanation...

Actually, that last picture needs a lot of explanation.

Where did John get that furry thing and why is he letting it touch his face?

Well there is that- it actually was so gross- he thought it was coming from the trees but it was really some sort of roofing material and it fell apart all over him so there was bits everywhere- worst part is that he wanted a matching pic with me holding one up so I got messed up too :-)
