Since we've made and announced the decision to leave Congo at the end of March, I wanted to share my ideas on what God has been doing with us these past two years- I am sure that other things will come to light as we are in different situations in the future, but this is what is clear to me now:
1) loads of time with each other, with Sam, and with my parents (during language school)
2) some of the root issues holding back the local NGO we've been here to work with have been able to come clearly to light and recently have started to be resolved too (we had a good meeting on Saturday with the key decision makers and were able to get everyone on the same page)
3) I've grown spiritually through some of the challenges we've faced and through having extra time during the week; learning to lean more on God and meditate on scripture, seen God's faithfulness in big and little things and developed more trust in Him, and learning to have two-way prayer with Him
4) John has been able to clarify his calling more specifically
5) we've benefited from real fellowship with the IM team here- have been loved, given wise counsel, seen how different people walk with God
6) we've learned French
7) we've gained experience in this cultural context- how organizations are governed, etc.
All in all- we've learned a lot and grown a lot and I know that we have also made a difference here too.
