He's here!!!! Yeah!

Our son, Samuel Justice Littleton (we're calling him Sam mostly- although as a side note John is working on a variety of other nicknames including Sammy, Sampkins, Samwich, Samwise, Gamgee, Samster, Sam the Man, Samzilla, Samapotamus, etc) was born just over a day ago at 11:50 am. We are in love.

I guess I'll just do some quick details up top here and then write a bit more detailed account below for those interested.

Time of Birth: 11:50
Weight: 8 lbs, 5 oz
Length: 22 1/4 inches
Length of labor: 5 hrs and 40 min!
Origin of Name: Samuel first came to our attention when we asked our niece Ruthie what this baby’s name should be a few months ago. She replied, “Samuel” and when asked what about if it’s a girl she also replied “Samuel.” J We were still undecided about boy’s names until an hour or two after Sam’s birth and chose this because it felt like the right name for him- and Sam especially.

Justice we’d known would be our boy’s middle name for a few months now. Working for justice is a very important part of the reason behind why John and I do what we do overseas and we wanted that passion to be part of our son’s life too. Also, at the time I didn’t know if we’d have a Bible name for our boy, and I loved the idea of our son being able to read through the Bible and see his middle name all over the place. A few of my favorite “justice” verses are: Micah 6:8 (John’s life verse), Amos 5:24 (my baptism verse), Deuteronomy 24:17, Psalm 33 (vs 5 especially), Psalm 140:12, Matthew 5:15-21
