That's not to say that we're not enjoying ourselves...
One day last week we went to the mall and saw Thai massage so we got that done (about 8.50 US for an hour :-) )

This is Mike and Lyn- our friends who work at Dalat School where John went to school. Actually, Lyn was in his class (as was Jason Drummond for those of you who know him), oh and so was Kipp Lor (see Thailand pics of a few weeks ago). Very close class- I think they only had 20 people in it or something. Anyway, in this pic- you can see one of our favorite Penang foods- fluffy white garlic naan bread (it's Indian as is about 10-15% of the population here). They're gone now for the holidays so we won't be able to count on them as our go-to late dinner hangout, basketball/soccer pick-up games hook up, or for general comraderie for a few weeks
:-(

Oh and here is a picture of John (the Manimal) eating chicken feet- something he had a habit of doing at our favorite vietnamese place in Philly's Chinatown too- I think it's so gross looking (and sounding) and think it kind of looks like a shrivelled person's hand.

Last thing- really, but I've got to gloat publicly just a bit... today John and Dave and I played at the arcade (free play for an hour- just over a dollar :-) ) We have a few favorite games- I like a drumming one that's kind of like DanceDance Revolution and we both love the basketball shooting one and the one where you can race (cars) against up to six people. Anyway, today John was king of the car racing one- which was sad because it used to be me (right Mike and Biju?), but today I totally crushed in the basketball one. You've got 45 seconds of 2 point shots and then 15 seconds at the end when they are worth 3, then if you get over fifty points on your first round you can keep your score and add on to it in a second round in which the basket moves back and forth. Anyway, I got 78 in my best first round and 147 overall after both rounds- compared with John's 72 and 140. Both scores are really quite good but... :-)

I like exotic foods but when I ate chicken feet with John at the restaurant in Princeton, that was a bit much for me. I wonder what it would be like to eat chicken made to look like a foot? Is it that it looks like a foot? Don't think so because I can eat a chocolate chicken with no problems. I can chew the meat off a chicken neck with no problems. But something about chewing on a foot made me squeamish.
i tend to block out memories of losing, especially when it involves losing to you, so to be honest i have no recollection of you crushing everyone in that driving game, although i vividly remember the arcade. actually, i do remember pitifully losing round after round of 28. i also remember crushing the life out of you in trivial pursuit and texas hold 'em, but that came later.
there's one good thing about not being around you guys...noone around me is going to pick up something that human's really shouldn't eat and plunge it into their mouth...oh JOHN!
