This trip was great too- tons of fun because of the girls and even though they had a problem with bird flu last year, there were lots of new birds and animals.
Highlights of this trip were... feeding the animals- specifically the parakeets (see picture below), the squirrel monkeys (who have really really soft little hands), and the fish. I loved seeing some new-to-me animals like bear cats and arapaima (huge fish from S. America) too.

This is John holding a bear cat- they are relatives of the cirvet cats. And right at this moment- he is getting bit pretty badly (didn't break the skin though).

Here John and I are holding pythons- those of you who read the entry about the butterfly farm will remember that these are my new favorite animals and I will never again pass up a chance to hold one. The one I've got was really heavy!!!

John bought a family-size animal food pack, and against all of my predictions actually managed to use it all up with Ruthie- here they're feeding rabbits- but they also fed deer, sheep, guinea pigs, fish, monkeys (mostly John and me- too scary for Ruthie), and tons of others.

At the end of the day, Ruthie and Lyddie played in this fountain for at least 40 minutes. It was definitely the highlight of Lyddie's day-as evidenced by the look on her face here- she would have stayed for hours I think, running through the parts that were her height, and patting the tops of each and every one.

I love hearing about your adventures and seeing all the pictures. Keep it coming!!
some day a trip to Malaysia is in order
so is Lyddie wearing an "I'm more important than ManU too" shirt? it's certainly the right colors... although now I'm sure (6 points up) that John is hyperventilating with worry about his Red Devils... :-)
Really glad I got to go on one (or 2) of those outings with you!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
